Every Spring, SJAA provides the opportunity for highly skilled players to participate in local and/or regional All-Star Tournaments following the end of the regular recreational baseball season. These tournaments are comprised of other All-Star teams from associations throughout the Jacksonville area and are played during the summer months. All-Star teams can qualify for the State Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken tournaments and beyond by winning the District Championship. All-Star Teams are highly competitive and require a level of play much higher than the regular recreation league. In addition, All-Star participation requires a substantial time commitment and can include significant additional costs to families. Fundraising is encouraged to help offset those costs.
The best players with the best attitude and work ethic are typically selected for All-Star team participation. It's a great honor and a wonderful experience for your child and is definitely a worthy goal to work toward.
- Midway through the Spring season the head coach will nominate their PROPOSED All-Stars to the Commissioner of their league (after the coach has spoken with the parents confirming they understand the time - practices and games - and financial commitment that is expected from All-Star parents and players). All-Star tournament participation typically starts in late May.
- All-Star teams will be formed prior to the end of the regular season so the teams can begin to practice together.
- A nominated player does not guarantee a spot on an All-Star team. The commissioner along with coaches of the respective league will make the determination. If needed, and at the Commissioner’s discretion, an All-Star team tryout may be required.
