Advanced Baseball

The Advanced Baseball (AB) program is for some of its more “advanced” players from 7U-12U, and is an extension of and to complement the recreational baseball program. The SJAA A/B program schedules its activities around the recreational baseball program. A participant in the advanced program is also required to participate with a recreational team, NO exceptions. The AB program is based on having coaches available and enough player participation.  Our 13U-15U programs already participate in a defacto AB program because they participate in a coalition with other local parks during the recreational season.

The AB program allows players to advance their skills in a fast paced and challenging environment. It also provides out players the opportunity to play games against the best players from other Associations throughout the City.  There are no rotation rules or minimum playing time requirements in advanced baseball. Thus, playing time is completely at the discretion of the advanced baseball manager for his or her particular team. Games and practices are generally scheduled on Sunday afternoons.

Tryouts will be considered if enough players are interested in playing, and coaches are available. The number of teams will depend on the talent pool available for a particular age group and the availability of coaches. If a player makes one of the advanced baseball teams, there are additional cost associated with participation in order to cover uniform costs and umpire fees.

It is not required that your child play Advanced Baseball to qualify for Summer All-Stars. AB and All-Stars teams are selected independently from each other. If you are interested in playing AB, email your commissioner or send an email to [email protected].

Tryouts will posted in the calendar and the news section of our website.
